South of Vallée du Rhône: Chateauneuf-du-pape

Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a French wine, an Appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) based around the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the Rhône wine region of southeastern France. It is one of the most famous appellations in the southern part of the Rhône Valley, and its vineyards are located around Châteauneuf-du-Pape and in the surrounding villages of Bédarrides, Courthézon and Sorgues, between Avignon and Orange. It covers just over 3200 hectares and produces over 110,000 hectolitres of wine per year.
