Life Is A Long Quiet River

Modern times, in a small town, where two families lead diametrically opposite lives. The Le Quesnoys are a pious and bourgeois couple. They form a well to do family who's five children were brought up to respect God and their parents. The Groseilles, a family of modest means, lives in a four room apartment in a working class neighbourhood. The father is out of a job. The mother spends her time listening to quizz shows over the radio, and the children have since the age of five been left to manage on their own. Two totally different families, yet each happy in their own way, but which nothing should ever had brought together. Everything will fall to pieces the day a nurse reveals that 12 years ago, after an unhappy love affair, she spitefully inverted two new-born babies in the maternity ward.
