Coppélia, a ravishing automaton, is enthroned in the workshop of Coppélius, the magician who developed it. Coppélia is so pretty that the young Franz, who is promised to Swanilda, only thinks of the beautiful woman he sees behind his window. Feeling neglected and determined not to let herself go without reacting, Swanilda decides to find out what is going on behind her back.
